The Illusion of 'It Works'

Technical success and operational efficiency are not the same measure.

Yes, the workflow works. The E57 file reaches the next step, and the model can still be built.

But sometimes progress requires unnecessary effort. Heavy datasets, extra handling, repeated local copies, and constant intervention become accepted as normal because the process never completely stops.

That is the illusion.

A workflow that technically works is not automatically a workflow that is efficient. The correct question is not only whether the data reaches the modeller, but also how much machine time, operator time, storage, and coordination were required to get it there.

When a working point-cloud workflow still carries unnecessary overhead

Large point-cloud workflows can remain technically functional while a single E57 consumes unnecessary storage, memory and operator time on every downstream workstation. Splitting or preparing the source before modelling can reduce this hidden overhead without changing the registered master dataset.
